I am a self taught colour pencil artist specialising in animals and natural surrounds. I have started Jamie Wild Art in 2019 with a real drive to capture scenes of hunting, wild life and hunting/retriever dogs. I am in the process of creating artwork that would support wildlife conservation projects around Australia and New Zealand.

I'm an Australian artist and mother, with a real passion for wildlife, hunting and living a subsistence lifestyle.

I take commissions for pet/animal portraits, hunting art scenes and custom wildlife pieces, all done with coloured pencils. I have chosen this medium as I find it captures the true wildness and character in an animal/friend with every detail. Pencils are amazing for creating different textures, especially fur and fine facial details.

For pet portraits I like to capture mainly the top half, which allows me to capture all the characteristics and expressions you love about them. However, please let me know if you would be interested in a full body portrait of your dog hunting/retrieving, or in a different setting than a traditional portrait and I can give you an accurate quote.

I work on high quality 100% cotton watercolour paper which is chlorine and acid free, guaranteeing long conservation using professional quality artist pencils. Your drawing will be cardboard mounted when it is finished (this ensures the drawing doesn’t come in contact with the glass when framed), please let me know if you do not wish for it to be mounted.

In order to create the best likeness and detailed portrait/artwork, I require high quality photographs preferably taken in natural light. I’m happy to help you go through and choose your photo. Feel free to ask if you have any questions.

Once we have confirmed the size and reference photographs, I ask for a non refundable 40% deposit to book your slot. This will be sent in an invoice via email. I will be able to let you know an approximate date for when I will be starting your portrait and will keep in touch with updates of the drawing so you can see the progress.

I also take commissions for wildlife and hunting scenes. Just contact me with your preferred photo and we can go from there.

These costs are for coloured pencil portraits, including shipping from Australia. If you require a size that isn’t listed please email me for an accurate cost.

Please note:
The above sizes are paper size, not drawing size. The drawing will be a bit smaller to allow room for a frame. Please an an extra $100 for any additional animal small animal(duck, bird, rabbit) and $200 for any additional large animal.
